A great preamp for double bass!

Dr TJ 31.03.2022

I use this as a preamp for my double bass. It has a 1 MOhm piezo-friendly input impedance and the bands are centered pretty close to those of the GK 800RB eq section. I play in one pretty loud band that does mostly roots/country/americana stuff: always a good sound and feedback is never a problem for me. My pickup is similar to K&K's Bassmax btw..

I bought a spare, just in case, but it's still sitting in it's box. The first one that I got more than eight years ago still does it's job. And I bought it second hand.

Hard to beat.

Contrary to negative reviews, it's good

Sebastian_T 28.02.2019

I took a gamble buying this EQ pedal. Initially I was looking at MXR 10band EQ and some other pedals I won't mention, but there was a day in which Thomann offered free shipping to my country, so I took a chance with it.
When I first saw it, it looked and felt really sturdy. The housing of the pedal is no joke, you can stomp on it and the switch is really really pleasant, compared to other more expensive pedals. The bands do click when you're at 0db, just not as hard as you'd be expecting, so it's easy to go over the neutral position. They also go quite high on boosting, more so than you might need for real-world application. I use it to boost mids and presence for lead sections on guitar, running through a Marshall JCM 900, it does the job perfectly. No problems whatsoever. The signal doesn't seem to be distorted when it's off, at least not from what I noticed (although I didn't investigate this thoroughly).
All in all, I recommend this pedal for your bedroom, practice or small gig playing. It will do the job and then some more, being durable and sturdy with a good switch.

Not so good!!!

Anonim 15.02.2017

This pedal was a bit of a disappointment for me. I didn't really like the finish of the plastic casing, and it was a little rough around the edges, although on a dark stage this will not really matter. Also the sliders did not all move with the same feel - some were easily moved while others offered a little more resistance. This could be a problem if you tend to set-and-forget as the sliders could move between gigs.

On the plus side, the pedal does what it is supposed to do and has a good sound with little noise. There are eight bands as opposed to the usual seven and the level control provides a useful boost facility. For the money it's probably worth it if you can ignore the small faults.

This is what helps you get that desired sound

Gouwy 06.11.2017

Especially useful if you have an amp without bass/mid/treble-knobs. It has 7 switches for different frequencies so you can tweak it really specifically. The switches lock softly at the middle point, which is great, then you don't have to look at what you're doing, you automatically know where you're at. The gain switch on the right side is useful when you want that extra punch, really good booster. Pedal can be used as an overall booster as well in the FX loop. Really versatile and great price/quality, goes well with other pedals
