Useful as a second choice mute
The idea is great, but the mute sounds only in the medium-high register; impossible into the low one.
Play on it alone could be ok, but if you have to match the sound with other mutes, forget it. After years the rubber can become hard and it doesn't slide anymore on the straight part.
