Gateway drug to the effects world
I have bought this pedal 2 years ago to explore the effects' world and to get experience alone (to spare everyone's ears) with looper, drum background on headphones. Fulfilled my preference targets.
Pros :
- tons of it; the versatility of this pedal is so extreme there would be a wall of text here
Cons :
- when configuring preset settings manual tinkering is a little bit unintuitive, maybe just for me; "Mode" enters in the presets config, "Value" changes the preset number.
- 200 presets are wonderful when first seen, later it is a pain in the a#s to scroll through them if the other preset you want to use is like 60 presets later (the knobs could scroll quite fast otherwise, but ...meh)
- effect order could not be changed (foul proof / good practice ?)
- wah OR compressor, not AND (I don't want to buy a separate wah ... I will, but I don't want)
- EQ section could be a little bit wider (a 10 band EQ option could be gamechanger)
- the built in Noise gate could not always deal with single coils.
Tips :
- the effects number could be overwhelming at first, but after a while you will be craving a little more pedals, despite the fact you bought it to rely only to this one. Well, put it in the effects loop of your amp.
- Use your computer and the free DNAfx desktop app to create/modify/store your presets. Keep them low in number on the device to switch between them conveniently
- when using it in a small room, set the input level (system -> input level) smaller. Not fortunate to go deaf next to a FM212r.
- the Expression pedal is quite a jolly joker; experience rendering different settings to it.
Sum :
- I hope the firmware could be updated with some additional features, but I think they will focus on new products instead of handling the old code.
- Heartfully recommended, quality product which ensures plenty of fun.
- Yes, yes, I am eyeing with the DNAfx git pro
