Excellent good looking fun guitar with a few issues
I couldn’t resist the pull of this relic-ed JM style guitar.
It arrived in good condition but with some minor issues:
- the fretboard was very dry
- there were quite a few sharp fret ends
- a handful of frets were slightly uneven
I suspect some of the above were due to the very hot and dry conditions that have plagued Europe again this summer (the heating has started…) and I managed to address all of them successfully.
I have the impression that the new pickups are quite a bit hotter than the previous Roswell pickups. I owned a JA-60 that I gave away to a charity shop a few years ago.
I don’t mind that they are hotter, but I may experiment with changing the pots or swapping the pickups for some Curtis Novak JM’s that are lying around here..
Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

Amazing guitar!
The relic might not be up to par with a Custom Shop, but what more can you ask at this price? I'm pretty impressed overall. From a distance it looks very convincing. The only complaint might be the top finish: where it's relic'd, the edges are a bit rough, as if they applied the bottom colour, then put stickers on, applied top colour and removed the stickers... when the top colour was not dry enough. But I think it can be fixed with fine sandpaper. Relic is less authentic looking on the pickguard, but very convincing on the neck and metal parts. For the moment I dont think I'll change the pickups, they seem fine enough.

One of the best guitars I've bought in a long time
The only thing I did to set up this guitar was set the string height to my preference the quality for the price is incredible the pickups are spot on for what I want they sound great through fender amps.
The finish on the body andneck is on par with my henrys guitar.
Playability is great comparable to guitars many times that price definatly an intermediate to pro guitar in my opinion well worth a try.

This thing rings like a bell awesome!
This is probably the best sounding and feeling guitar for the money I own and I have fenders and gibsons. Its very resonant and is loud acoustically unplugged and just vibrates for days. The relicing is not the best granted and there was a bit of fret sprout, but for pure sound and feel whoever made these knocked it out the park for its comfort and sound, did I mention its very light too. I want another one but if people find out they wont last long. Way to go Thoman

Steal of a price
love the guitar the size of the guitar relates very much to offender Mustang. Love it to feel tones lovely yes I need a little bit of TLC when arrived. What do you expect for this amount of money? Definitely recommend buying it. It’s competition with the likes of square it’s well matched in a fair price. The ageing is cool too.
