While this one has hollow body, it doesn't really have the mass to emit any louder or deeper sound, it only really works with an amp or interface. It does sound great plugged in. As others mentioned, it's kinda close to an upright. There are a few problems though.
First off, you may encounter noise problems in certain environments. In my home recording studio I have to put up with ~-42 db of noise when recording, which is very noticeable and requires further cleanup. The problem seems to go away on portable setups though (amps or laptops with USB interfaces, not plugged into mains).
Another problem is build quality: the default action is so high you could hang your laundry to dry on it, which also results in poor intonation. Adjusting the truss rod does help, but only to certain degree because the nut is very high as well.
All in all, I'm going to keep it, but I will have to consult my luthier when it comes to a few upgrades here and there, if I'm going to use it as a recording instrument along my other bases.
