Miditech MIDIface 8x8

I purchased this one in order to test Linux compatibility.

I am happy to report that it works out-of-the-box with several modern Linux distributions that i tried, including the two-three most popular of them.

I am also happy with the build quality of this item (metal housing and all), and i only expect it to keep on performing for several years.

Feature-wise, it is a simple midi interface. There is no additional fancy software for peculiar routings or anything similar.

Totally recommended.

This works as you would expect and is class compliant on Windows and Mac so no additional drivers were needed. It's nicely compact and indicator lights helpfully indicate activity on each connection. My only concern is that the MIDI sockets feel slightly flimsy as they are only held in place by being soldered into the circuit board so when plugging something into them they bend backwards slightly - take care!

Plug & play in Mac OS enviornment, very well laid out with room for labeling each port. USB 3.0 allows for little to no latency. Highly recommend!

Upgraded from the MIDIface 4x4

I use it to rout MIDI from my MIDI controllers to various synths. Just a matter of picking the MIDI in and out of my choice in my DAW. I've been using it for approx. half a year, no problems so far.

I bought this interface to be able to easily send MIDI info from my DAW to different synths. The MIDIface does it perfectly, without any hassle at all. Just plug it into your USB port and you're ready to go. No need to install drivers or even read the manual. Couldn't be easier!

Being plug and play, this was incredibly easy to set up. I connect my Cirklon to this using USB and I have 8 extra MIDI outputs. It's as simple as that. I'll probably regret not getting the 16 port version but I'm ok with that for now.
