I rely on these during loud rehearsals with my guitar amp or when attending shows. The standard kit includes one set of "Mid" acoustic filters (17 dB SNR) and one set of "Full Block" filters. The Mid filter is the star here; it tames the piercing highs of cymbals and the aggressive mid-range of a guitar without making the sound feel underwater. Because they preserve high-frequency detail, I can still have a conversation with bandmates or hear the subtle nuances of my reverb and delays trails while staying protected.
Unlike cheap plugs, these don't just cut the treble, they lower the overall pressure while keeping the HI-FI character of the music intact. They are extremely soft and didn't cause irritation even during a three-hour set. The inclusion of the Full Block filter means they double as great earplugs for sleeping or traveling when you want maximum isolation
The Sennheiser SoundProtex is a fantastic investment for any musician who values their hearing as much as their tone. They offer a much more open and natural listening experience than standard protection, though you'll need to be careful not to drop the tiny components when switching between the acoustic and full-block filters.
