I love it BUT
It's a nice upgrade compared to the first version. It is not worth the money if you're a hobby musician like me though.
Today I started it and out of the blue it started a factory reset. I lost 3 tapes with new beats.
After the OPZ Fiasco I've had it with Teenage Engineering.
I'm returning it. I'm super disappointed by this.
And I'm super glad I bought it from Thomann because I trust them way more!

Amazing upgrade from original OP1
I had original OP1 for years and now upgraded to the field version. Though it seemed expensive (actually very expensive to spend 2K just to add some extra features) but it completely changed the workflow. Now it is the most used device in my studio (and outside). First, it has stereo recording (to tape and to sampler) which make this device useful for sampling any synths, modular, vintage samplers etc. Second, it's USB out now works as USB host so I can connect any synth via USB (I have Buchla 208, Prophet 12, Moog Minitaur, Microfreak, several Elektron boxes etc), sequence it and record to the tape. BTW, I found that OP-1f has a much better headroom for recording so it records without any losses in quality. And third, with USB-C it is now so easy to connect to iPad/MacBook or even iPhone with the standard usb-c - lightening cable.

Fantastic instrument
I have always wanted to own an OP-1. When the Field released, I felt that it was a good time to jump on the hype train. Yes it is a bit pricey but I think it is mostly worth it in the end.
It sounds and feels like a high-end device and there is nothing else on the market that can do what it does. The OP-1 feels almost organic with its workflow, and it makes playing and creating music fun and exciting.
At the end of the day it is still a niche product and quite expensive, so do a good amount of research before making your decision. Personally though, I think that this will become the center of my studio.

It's really fantastic / I was wrong
I thought that it was an overrated, too-expensive toy! It's fun like nothing else, creative, stimulating, and very capable actually! You need to try it to believe it! Try it out; you can return it if you don't like it, but I doubt you will.

Wonderful device, solid build, great sound
Really enjoying this keyboard. You can do just about anything with it at home and on the go (which is the main reason I bought it - portability). Still have a lot to learn about it but I'm watching a new tutorial every day and am consistently amazed by it's capabilities.

amazing device, excellent build quality, great sound, you have to get used to the tape workflow which is not trivial (at least to me) but is closer to how people where working in the beginning of remixes etc.. a really fun (yet expensive) toy/synth.

Brilliant. but still a big reach.
I have the original, and I love them both. This is better in every way, hands down. But it doesn't make the original less great than it's always been. With the money you'd spend on upgrading you can buy a lot and just keep the original. I'll keep the Field because it will be my production partner everywhere I go and I'll start a lot of projects on it, but considering this is more expensive than the new Osmose by Expressive E, if I was buying today, I would probably take the Osmose..
