K&M 23765 Microphone Fishing Pole

I bought this to use on a short three day film production (first time as a sound recordist). I always buy K&M mic stands because they are solid and well built. This one is good. Easy to use, quiet, I didn't need to use it fully extended but even when it was close to 2.5m it didn't wobble or make any extra or excessive handling noise.

The only point where is doesn't do so well is the locking mechanism to extend/retract the poles. The poles do slip, twist and move easily even after tightening up the clamps. With a heavy mic, that obviously won't work well. I borrowed a Sennheiser MHK804 that would have been difficult to use because of the weight and length at certain angles - and ended up using a Sennheiser MKE600. Speaking of weight, I found the pole pretty lightweight and had no problem holding it for extended takes.

So, it has some small issues and depending on what you are using it with that may be an issue. I've not used other boom poles so have nothing else to compare it with.
