My chief concern was with the quality of the neck I might receive. The fretwork on this one is absolutely flawless and the nut is cut as close to perfect as any I've ever seen. In the playing position, one of the knobs 'looks' slightly off-kilter. Thank you, Thomann, for sending me another next day delivery!!
ETA: When the guitar came out of the box, I noticed all the strings were de-tuned about a half-step. This would have corresponded to almost exactly the amount of de-tuning "if" the factory relieved neck tension for shipping. Sure enough, when I tightened up the truss rod, almost every aspect of a good setup sorted itself right out. Found out last night the push/pull knobs aren't some gimmick feature. They produce a tonal change that is quite impressive. Compared to my Fender Ultra II HSS, the difference is night and day. Am I disappointed this comes with a maple veneer instead of a maple cap? Nope ... Am actually about four thousand dollars happier.
ETA2: The selector switch is broken. It no longer works in the middle position. The input connector barely holds a cable any longer. Upgraded to PRS locking tuners because there was just too much lash in the OEMs. When I took the stock tuners off I found that every screw hole had been wrecked by someone at the factory with an electric screwdriver. Two of the holes were completely stripped. None of this should happen on a guitar sold at this price point.
