When it works it is excellent

The trumpet is extremely free blowing and easy to play on every register. Intonation is also good. The weight is 1040 grams (without the mouthpiece), which I liked, since I was looking for a rather light instrument.
The sound is a warm and beautiful.
The case is solid and light, ideal for traveling.
My only, but unfortunately serious problem with my instrument was the quality of workmanship. The 3. valve started to get stuck after two months. I sent back the trumpet to fix the problem. But a few weeks after it came back the 3. valve started to stuck again and this time there were problems with the 2. valve too.
The Thomann costumer service was great and they give me back my money.
Maybe I was just very unlucky, and I got the one improper quality instrument among the thousands of great Tr 800 trumpets.
Because of the great costumer service, I would still recommend this instrument. Since when it plays right, it is on the same level as an above thousand € trumpet. But be aware, there might be some quality problems.

My first trumpet

I can't say much as a beginner but I think this instrument has a higher quality craftsmanship than other ones in its price range.
I just love the tone quality and I feel something darker and more intimate in the sound with the larger bore.
I'm sure it was the best choice for me considering my budget and the sound what I am looking for.

An Impressive Horn For Student Or Professional!

This horn is a winner! As a performing jazz musician and educator, I was looking for a reasonably priced backup trumpet that was good enough to play on stage. To my surprise, this beautiful Thomann TR-800L truly exceeds my expectations.

At $450 with shipping to the USA, this large bore gold lacquer horn arrived in just a couple days shipped from Germany. Upon opening the case, I was amazed at the impressive design and superb build quality of this instrument. With a hand-hammered one-piece bell, super smooth and fast Monel valves, and precision craftsmanship throughout, I was amazed at the world-class quality at this price point.

This Thomann trumpet plays on par with professional horns. The look and sound quality is so close to my Schilke B3 trumpet it is remarkable. This is a very versatile trumpet with a rich tone and very precise intonation top to bottom. I can go from a dark and intimate ballad horn to an altissimo screamer with just a simple change of mouthpieces.

Either this large bore TR-800 or the medium-large bore TR-4000 would be a fine instrument for any aspiring student or professional. Check out these superb trumpets for yourself... you'll be glad you did.

Soo Glad Christmas Came Early

I’m a new player and started out on a $100 cornet off of Amazon…this was a HUGE upgrade! Not only did it hit the proper note with little effort, but this horn is gorgeous to boot. While I may have never heard of Thomann before, I can safely say that I am now a fan for life.
